NEWS: GALLERY TO OPEN AT 5510 COLLEGE AVE IN MARCH 2026
SLATE Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a new gallery at 5510 College Avenue, in the heart of the Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland.
The exhibition space will launch with a group show featuring works by eleven artists from the gallery’s roster. Titled A New Day, the exhibition marks the start of a new era for SLATE. With themes of new beginnings, breaking light, dawn, and regeneration running through the curation, the show will usher in the spring season with a much-needed sense of hope, peace, and possibility.
Future programming will include solo shows for two artists new to the gallery: Rubeena Ratcliffe (Vancouver, Canada) and Jen Garrido (San Francisco), and for two more established SLATE artists: Hannah Franco and Angela Johal, both from the East Bay. A summer invitational will include guest artists and will focus on the genre of gestural expressionism.
The gallery will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 to 5pm, and will host a grand opening for the public on Saturday March 9th.
SLATE will also maintain an Annex at 473 25th Street in the same building where they have been based since 2011. SLATE Annex will be open by appointment and for occasional special First Friday events.
FEBRUARY EVENT: RECEPTION FOR HANNAH FRANCO AT THE NORTH BLOCK HOTEL, YOUNTVILLE
Join us on Saturday February 6th to celebrate the installation of seven works by Hannah Franco at the North Block Hotel in Yountville, CA.
The lobby and restaurant at North Block become a living canvas with the launch of a new ongoing art and retail series in collaboration with SLATE Contemporary Gallery and Erica Tanov Atelier.
The series debuts with paintings by Hannah Franco, whose sensory-driven work reflects the hotel's shared values of craft, care, and intention.
Opening reception: Friday, February 6, 5–7pm
Enjoy light bites, wines from Lorenza, a signature cocktail, and an Erica Tanov pop-up in the lobby.
