Angélica Turner makes gestural and expressive paintings that represent her connection to nature. Her work is about the different emotional and psychological dimensions that derive from her experiences in forests and how that converses with living in the city. She paints inspired in the idea that the fragility of ecosystems can be compared to the way the human mind works. Following this notion, the forest subject is used as a metaphor to share her own inner world.
Through the exploration of various color palettes, Turner’s paintings address very intimate feelings related to the emotional roller coaster while seeking to get pregnant and overcoming fertility challenges during Covid times. The vegetation ephemeral character, its atmosphere, vitality and intensity appear in the form of contrasts, light passages and brushstrokes symbolizing moods, questionings and thoughts.
Turner's work seeks to generate self-awareness, and rethink the human relationship with nature, the way we are affected by Her, and how nature's vulnerability becomes our own.
