Marta Moreu is a Spanish Sculptor born in Barcelona in 1961.

In 1985 she graduated in Fine Arts in the specialty of sculpture at the Sant Jordi University in Barcelona. From this moment on she began to create sculpture, although during the first years she dedicated time to her other passion, teaching, where she took the opportunity to transmit her love for art to her students.

Moreu's creations are born from the subconscious and from her deepest feelings with the intention of communicating and expressing in a practically autobiographical and sincere way, seeking authenticity. She is a figurative artist but the distortion, movement, weightlessness, and symbolism help to create her own imaginary world that escapes from reality and is closer to lyricism.

Throughout her career, Moreu has used multiple materials to make her work such as wood, stone, clay, but bronze has always been her preferred material. The nobility, durability, and flexibility of bronze have been reasons for Moreu's preference. Bronze allows her to make shapes that no other material could make, it allows her to lengthen, bend and weld her figures in positions of balance that are sometimes impossible. The patina and the rough texture used in the final stages are essential to give more intensity of expression to her work with a certain drama without abandoning this austere and refined style. Despite the hardness and weight of her material, her sculptures offer a feeling of lightness and weightlessness.

Her sculptures have been successfully exhibited throughout the US, Canada, and Europe and also in prestigious art fairs such as Strasbourg Art Fair, Gante Art Fair, Toronto Art Fair, Miami Art Fair, Palm Beach Art Fair, Chicago Art Fair. Moreu's work is also in public collections in Barcelona.
